A little while after arriving in Sicily, I realised one of the most amazing things I was seeing was typography. Everywhere. Beautiful street signs. Three dimensional shop signs. Art deco and 19th century store fronts. Shaded fonts. Name plaques for Geometra and Notaries. I started taking a photo or two. By the end of the holiday, there wasn’t a lot of room for anything else.

Lovely post – why is it that even though everything looks a bit run down, needing a coat of paint and rusty, it looks acceptable in the mediterranean countries? If it was here, it would just look shabby but not chic.
Glad I’m not the only one who does this! Friends and family are asked to move out of the way.
For some reason this reminded me of “The Leopard”. I just saw it for the first time. Thanks for capturing a glimpse of today’s Sicily for those of us far, far away from its treasures…and fun fonts!
I think I need to have a Sicilian film week or two very soon….! B
