A New Farmhouse
This house is under construction, due for completion in early 2024. The house is a replacement dwelling for an extraordinary site in Gloucestershire, with superb views over the Evenlode Valley.
Our brief was initially to remodel an existing, sprawling 1960s Neo-vernacular house, but after serious consideration, and working with the landscape architect Adam Frost, our client decided that demolition, re-siting and an entirely new construction was the best way to proceed.
The new house is designed with an extremely sustainable fabric, developed in consultation with Ecospheric. Walls are in highly insulated terracotta block with natural local stone facings, and the house is entirely fossil-fuel free in operation.
Designed to feel like a traditional farmhouse, which has evolved and has been extended over time, the building provides significant accommodation in a subtle and intuitive way that feels entirely harmonious with the wider landscape setting of the farm.
