A Carpet Collaboration
In 2014 Ben Pentreath was asked by Alternative Flooring to design a range of new patterned carpet for their popular ‘Quirky B’ range. We enthusiastically took up the challenge of designing patterned carpet within the extremely restrictive technical brief that the manufacturing process allowed.
Our inspiration came from 18th century pavement patterns by the renowned architect, Batty Langley. In the shop, Pentreath & Hall, we had already re-sized and re-coloured these patterns to create a startling and successful range of papers and stationery. Alternative Flooring were drawn to these strong geometries and colours and together we developed a range of twelve different coloured and patterned designs.
The collection was launched to strong acclaim at Decorex 2015. We were thrilled to work on this important project with such a lovely English company.
